Our supporters

The FA logo

"The FA is supportive of initiatives and events which show how the power of football can help to build a better future. Our International Development programme operates all around the world developing skills in coaching, refereeing and administration. We are pleased to support the Coaching for Hope project which will use football as a tool to communicate vital messages on key issues such as HIV/AIDS as well as to develop football skills amongst young people in Mali." Geoff Thompson, Chairman, The FA

Adidas logo Adidas Area North (UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg) have held fundraising events including an inter-company football tournament and a pro-celebrity golf tournament. A gala dinner is planned for November 2007. They have also donated a Toyota pick-up truck to our Burkina Faso programme and a significant amount of kit for the coaches.
Adidas made a 20-minute dvd about our work and a 3-minute film featuring Norman Cook, which was shown at Wembley when England played Germany in August 2007.

FIFA is supporting us with a grant of $20,000 to develop our outreach work in Mali. This grant is adminstered through Street Football World, FIFA's operating agent in Germany. Federico Addiechi, FIFA's Head of CSR said "we are delighted to be working with CFH in Mali and look forward to developing our relationship further".

UK Sport has given Coaching for Hope a grant to:

  • Run a pilot training course for coaches from their partner organisation SEDYEL in May 2007
  • Conduct an audit of coaching materials and manuals for disabled football
  • Produce a best practice guide on coaching disabled footballers

We are looking forward to developing our relationship with UK Sport as we launch our programme in Southern Africa in 2007.

Clare Balding
In May 2005, Clare Balding endorsed Coaching for Hope and explained:

“I’m a great believer in the power of sport to change lives, in its ability to heal rifts and to give people inspiration. I think this is a wonderful project and hope that it will bring light into lives that may otherwise be darker than anyone deserves.”
Robert Eaton Memorial Fund

The Robert Eaton Memorial Fund (REMF) The REMF is a foundation set up in the memory of Robert Eaton who tragically died in the attacks on New York on September 11th 2001. This organisation is now generously supporting the work of local coaches in Burkina Faso over a three-year period, funding the vital HIV education sessions and football workshops that the local coaches deliver week to week.

Norrie McCathie Benevolent Fund
"We are privileged to be able to provide assistance to children who live in such difficult circumstances, and who I am sure will love their football like our kids do.  With so many youngsters in our development squads, they are constantly growing out of their shirts, shorts and boots, and this is an ideal way to ensure that it all goes towards a very good cause.  It's great to see the efforts of our kids helping children in football, so many thousands of miles from Fife."
